Jeremiah 5:13-14 - The Fire Line

Step 1: Pray. Select.

I must admit that when I began my search for scripture today, God led me to three books that were all pressing hard on the same theme—His strict instruction to be God-fearing and to correct my ways.

Truthfully, I wasn’t sure where in my life I was living in disobedience. Still, as the Holy Spirit always does, he began to show me a small blind spot, which might seem insignificant now but later could cause division amongst my family.

God is amazing at protecting and warning us in advance of our options to change; it is on days like this that I thank the LORD for his wisdom and protection of things I don’t always see ahead.

My scripture for today is Jeremiah 5:13-14.

Let's begin our journey here, friends.

Step 2: Write. Read. Circle

Jeremiah 5:13-14:

And the prophets become wind,

For the word is not in them.

Thus shall it be done to them.”

Therefore thus says the Lord God of hosts:

“Because you speak this word,

Behold, I will make My words in your mouth fire,

And this people wood,

And it shall devour them.

After reading the scripture three times, the following words stood out amongst the others:

  • Prophets Become Like Wind

  • Speak This Word

  • My Words

  • It Shall Devour Them

Step 3: Re-Write

With a focus on the words that stood out, here is the personalized sentence that came alive. Don't forget, if you are doing this alongside me today, to add your name to your unique sentence:

  • Jennifer, prophets become wind. Speak this word, my words; it shall devour them.

Step 4: Visualize

As I meditate on the scripture and my sentence from the Holy Spirit for today, I begin to understand that the only power in the world is the word of God. When we allow words or voices that are not his out of our mouths, we run the risk of speaking nonsense.

The Holy Spirit is telling me we can only petition for things that align with his perfect will. If he has spoken it, whatever the situation, the encounter, the next step, the instruction he has for us will be done.

This is why it is so important to know the word, his word because there is nothing he doesn’t have an answer for. Lately, I have been perplexed about a few things, but he is saying bring that thing to the altar, and I will have you leave filled to go out and speak to the situation to burn down the fire you see coming in the distance. He shows me a fire line, which is a strip of land cleared of flammable materials to stop the spread of a fire. He is telling me that if my words are his words, they will stop the spread of the fire of the enemy. When I sense a threat, he asks me to go deeper, move quicker, and prepare. Don’t wait to prepare your arsenal. Be ready and waiting. The weapons will form, but they will not prosper. This time is not like before. This time, you must fight fire with fire.

This leads me straight to a question for the Holy Spirit, so it is time to move to Step 5.

Step 5: Ask. Seek

The question that came to mind is:

  • Holy Spirit, I must admit that this morning, you brought forth many scriptures warning me to correct my behavior and be more diligent in my walk. Can you guide me to the instructions on how I can do this better?

Step 6: Hear. Write. Receive

Here is the answer I received:

"Start with your words. When you feel frustrated or angry, correct your speech. Direct your anguish towards me, for I have the wisdom to give you what you need. I have the words. I never lead you down a path of punishment without a way out. Even this morning, you wonder why I am giving you these scriptures. It is merely so you can know I love you enough and will always provide a way out of anything or instruction for any situation you are in. Look here for today, Jeremiah 5:18-22: “Nevertheless in those days,” says the Lord, “I will not make a complete end of you. And it will be when you say, ‘Why does the Lord our God do all these things to us?’ then you shall answer them, ‘Just as you have forsaken Me and served foreign gods in your land, so you shall serve aliens in a land that is not yours.’ and Jeremiah 5:31: The prophets prophesy lies, the priests rule by their own authority, and my people love it this way. But what will you do in the end?” There is the answer. What will you do in the end?" There is always a choice.”

Step 7: Pray. Confirm

That is what matters to God. No matter what we get ourselves into, we choose him. He will make a way for us in the wilderness.

Heavenly Father, I come to you in the name of my LORD and Savior, Jesus.

Thank you for shedding your mercy over my soul. I thank you for this word today confirming that no matter what I choose, you provide a way out of every situation that always leads me closer to you, the MOST HIGH GOD.

Help strengthen me to be more diligent in your ways and use your words. You are the Alpha and the Omega, my beginning and my end, and you will always keep me safe no matter what threat I see in the distance.

Thank you for arming me to be quick to hear your voice and instructing me in my ways going forward sharper than any two-edged sword. I pray this prayer and seal it with the precious blood of Jesus—Amen!

Conclusion:

In conclusion, friends, no matter what is happening in your life, know God is still on the throne and will always secure a way through your wilderness.

Make sure you are preparing your arsenal of His words to fight any spiritual battle that rages ahead in the distance.

Make your fire line prominent to warn the enemy to blow with the wind in a different direction. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

Go forward with his words in your mouth, friends. Start a fire to burn down anything that threatens the will of GOD today.

The victory is ours through Christ Jesus. See you soon!
