Deuteronomy 32:10-11 - Shaken, Awaken, & Strengthened
Step 1: Pray. Select.
This morning, as I entered a quiet spot to focus on what the Holy Spirit had in store for me, the following words came to mind almost immediately:
Learning to Fly
Amazement of God
Wonder of God
I began researching scripture that applied these words. As I came to Deuteronomy 32:10-11, I knew I had come home.
Let’s begin, friends.
Step 2: Write. Read. Circle
Deuteronomy 32:10-11 - In a desert land he found him, in a barren and howling waste. He shielded him and cared for him; he guarded him as the apple of his eye, like an eagle that stirs up its nest and hovers over its young, that spreads its wings to catch them and carries them aloft.
After reading the scripture three times, the following words stood out amongst the others:
He Found him
As Howling Waste
He Shielded
He Guarded
As The Apple Of His Eye
To Catch
And Carry Aloft
Step 3: Re-Write
With a focus on the words that stood out, here is the personalized sentence that came alive in my heart. Don't forget, if you are doing this alongside me today, make sure to add your name to your unique sentence:
Jennifer, He found him; as howling waste, he shielded and guarded as the apple of his eye to catch and carry aloft.
Step 4: Visualize
As I meditate on my sentence today, I think of what it might feel like to have God carry us aloft.
The Holy Spirit is particular about me, focusing on the fact that just because we may walk in a wasteland, at any moment, God can swoop down and grab us, carrying us higher and above any location.
I am beginning to understand the principle of possessing the ability to rise above all negativity and chaos in the world if I remain close to and trust that I am the apple of God’s eye. He can pluck me out and pick me up at a moment’s notice.
The Holy Spirit prompts me to dive deeper into the stirring of an eagle's nest, as it is mentioned in the scripture. The mother eagle disrupts the baby eagle’s nest environment, so the eagles are pushed out of the nest to mature.
The Holy Spirit wants me to think of every disruption not as an obstacle or battle but as a necessary exercise to shift and realize that sometimes disturbances are intentional by God to grow me. And if they are intentional, that means I am still under God’s watchful eye. And if I believe God will do what he says, he will provide a way in the wilderness. He will prosper me and not harm me. So if I fall out of comfort by his shaking, then he is, with a watchful eye, waiting to swoop down in perfect timing to pluck me out once I have learned or changed enough in my situation or circumstance.
Friends, let's look at the day's resistance, obstacles, or challenges as a shaking to wake up instead of an attempt to kill my hopes and dreams. It is not an attempt to destroy me but to deliver me to my Father's promises to give me an inheritance that requires flying higher. If God is waking me up and stirring my spirit, then something exciting must be waiting for me ahead!
I have a question, so I move to Step 5.
Step 5: Ask. Seek
The question that came to mind is:
Holy Spirit, how can I know the difference between if God is shaking me or if I am under attack?
Step 6: Hear. Write. Receive
Here is the answer I received:
"The answer is the same no matter how you ask the question. Remember this first: God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Whether he allows the shaking from the enemy or is stirring you up himself, does it really matter who is doing the waking? The key is not to ask who is waking me, but why I am not supposed to sleep. Your Father has something in store for you he does not want you to miss. The peace through the shaking and the waking is that God has good plans. As it states in the scripture, just as Jacob was, you are the apple of his eye. And you can trust that he knows exactly where and when to swoop in to catch you and carry you higher than you have ever been before. He will deliver you from evil and fulfill his promises to give you your rightful inheritance when you are strong enough to handle the weight of the blessing. Not worrying about falling, but only focused on the flight ahead. Together, with him.”
Step 7: Pray. Confirm
Father God, I come to you through your son, Jesus.
Please help me wake from the shaking, not disoriented, but with joy and exuberance at today’s lessons, obstacles, and strength training.
Thank you for plucking me out at the right time to enjoy the flight ahead.
Help me know that what you have ahead is better than the comfort of where I am now.
Let me soar with you and strengthen my reflexes to always look for you, knowing you will break my fall and always arrive on time. I want my instincts to be your instincts. Please show me how; I am ready.
I seal this prayer with the precious blood of Jesus - Amen!

Conclusion:
Friends, let’s look at our obstacles, challenges, or resistance in life as a training course towards the blessing.
Let’s look for God instead of our own answers to break our fall and rise higher than ever before on the wings of his understanding.
Let us be awake and not asleep to miss what God has in store.
God has an inheritance waiting for you, as he promised Jacob. You are the apple of his eye. He will take you from grace to grace and glory to glory.
Let’s get excited to be shaken up and awaken! See you soon.
